SELANGOR – 3 APRIL 2018 – The TaylorMade ilovegolf Tournament at Tropicana Golf & Country Resort in Petaling Jaya, Selangor proved a big hit with 120 golfers in attendance and Pakhruddin Abdul Majid showing just what he is made of as he was crowned the top golfer.
A 10-handicapper, Pakhruddin topped the Medal A category on countback from Wan Pakhrizan after both players had matching scores of 40 Stableford points. The latter played off a 16 handicap and settled for second place.
It was an exciting showdown in an event that was characterised by good golf on a course that was in great condition.
Pakhruddin, who has won on many an occasion on the domestic amateur circuit, said: “I am happy I won here. There were many good players in the field which makes it all that more difficult to come through at the top. It was also nice that the course was in good condition.”
In third place was Nor Azhar Mohd, who played off an eight handicap and finished with 39 points.
Sahrudin Sharan, a 19 handicapper, also had 40 points and won the Medal B title. He finished one point ahead of Alex Yau, who also played off 19. Datuk Shahanizam (19) had 38 points in third place.
In the novelty contests, the Nearest-to-Line prize went to Rajakumar Gopal after his golf ball came to rest just one inch from the mark, while the Nearest-to-Pin honours went to Nizam Osman. His tee shot was measured at six feet from the flag.
Sharudin Sharan hit his ball 246 metres down the fairway and won the Longest Drive prize, while Alex Yau also won the On-the-Green Challenge, a lucky draw for those who managed to get their ball onto the green in one attempt.
At the prize-giving ceremony, TaylorMade (Malaysia) commercial senior manager Eileen Fong said: “We are very happy to team up with MST Golf to organise this successful tournament and witness some good quality golf played out there.
