5 August 2013 – The PGA TOUR provides the very highest level of competitive golf in the world and again making its way to Malaysia with the 4th edition of the prestigious CIMB Classic October 24th to 27th 2013 at a new venue, Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club.
This year’s event promises an expanded field of 78 players including Phil Michelson who will appear for the very first time in Malaysia. Last year’s winner Nick Watney will also be back to defend his title along with other past winners Bo Van Pelt and Ben Crane. Golfers across this region will have the opportunity to truly experience the PGA TOUR Experience, with the event set up and managed in the same style and manner as that of the marquee PGA TOUR tournaments in the USA.
As part of the PGA TOUR Experience, MST Golf as the official PGA TOUR licensee will be managing the PGA TOUR Shop, set up within the spectator village during CIMB Classic tournament and offering visitors official tournament logo merchandise, full range of PGA TOUR branded merchandise including apparel, headwear, bags, umbrella, gift packs, gloves, socks, belts and golf accessories with various promotions and great deals. All major golf brands are setting up brand corners in the PGA TOUR Shop, where visitors can view the latest golf equipment used by the PGA TOUR players and purchase at special promotional prices. There will also be some “meet & greet” the fans sessions throughout the week.
MST Golf Tech Shop led by our club maker and certified fitters David Tang and Brendan Chatham will provide the Tour Service Support to the players at the driving range for club checking, fine tuning, grip & shaft exchange and any other professional jobs required during the tournament week. MST Golf is working with reknown brands to best support the players including providing quality branded balls to the contractual brand players to use for practice at the range.
MST Golf Vacations on the other hand is promoting the CIMB Classic through a number of specialized golf tour operators around the world with “Stay, Watch & Play” packages. This includes a select group of avid amateur golfers who won regional CIMB qualifiers and will be hosted for the Pro-Am during the tournament week. MST Golf is helping to promote golf through the Malaysia Golf Tourism Association (MGTA) to firmly establish the country on the global map for golfing holidays.
With the PGA TOUR and CIMB extending the sponsorship of the CIMB Classic for the next 3 years as part of the PGA TOUR’s full schedule and its first ever official FedExCup event in Asia as part of the 2013-14 season, this clearly demonstrates that the PGA TOUR is firmly committed to Asia and will move from strength to strength as the field expands and the prize fund continues to increase.
