MST Golf’s ‘Drive Out Cancer’ Raises Over RM33,000 for Cancer Patients

The funds from more than 300 golfers will enable National Cancer Society Malaysia to provide free cancer screenings for more than 500 individuals including B40, M40, and Orang Asli communities.

Subang Jaya, 12 August 2025 – MST Golf, the leading golf retail and services provider in Malaysia and Singapore, reaffirmed its commitment towards community health and cancer awareness through its #GolfForGood initiative, presenting a cheque to the National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM). The contribution, amounting to RM33,259, was raised from the collective efforts of more than 300 ilovegolf loyalty programme members who participated in the “Drive Out Cancer” challenge held during MST Golf’s Community Golf Day events.

The challenge saw golfers from the Central, Southern, and Northern regions teeing off to make every drive count, with MST Golf pledging RM5 for every 10 metres driven, contributing to the fundraising tally. The campaign concluded with an impressive total of 66,518 metres driven, including RM1,207 in direct donations from players. All proceeds will be channelled to NCSM’s cancer awareness and free screening programmes scheduled to run from September to November 2025 across Klang Valley, Johor, and Penang – the same locations as the Community Golf Day events.

Today, a cheque presentation ceremony was held in conjunction with a cancer awareness talk at MST Golf’s headquarters for MST Golf employees. Conducted by Dr. Ruthresh Rao Subramanyam, Assistant Director (Medical) of NCSM, the educational session shed light on the signs, risks and the importance of early detection.

“Celebrating our 35th year, we are humbled by the strong support from our ilovegolf members in our joint effort to drive positive change through the sport of golf,” said Mr. Ng Yap, the Group CEO of MST Golf. “Every swing in the Drive Out Cancer challenge reflects our commitment as an organisation in the sports industry to giving back, uplifting communities, and promoting healthier lifestyles.”

Receiving the cheque on behalf of NCSM, Dr. Ruthresh Rao Subramanyam expressed heartfelt appreciation to MST Golf, saying, “The support from MST Golf is a game-changer for NCSM. Their donation, made possible by their dedicated community, will allow us to continue our vital work and actively help those who need it most. We are truly thankful for their support and dedication.”

This donation will be instrumental in covering NCSM’s operational costs, including the transportation of its mobile health units, purchase of essential consumables, and manpower to deliver these vital services effectively. These funds are expected to save a minimum of 500 lives, targeting primarily the B40 and M40 communities, as well as the Orang Asli community, who often have limited access to healthcare.

The event underscores MST Golf’s commitment under its MST Golf C.A.R.E.S. sustainability framework, particularly the Empowering Community Engagements pillar, which aims to create meaningful social impact through sustained corporate and community partnerships.
