MST Golf Arena Diverts Over 2,100kg of Food Waste Through Sustainable Practices

MST Golf Arena is making meaningful strides in sustainability, integrating responsible waste management into its daily operations. Since August 2024, MST Golf Arena has successfully diverted 2,127.59 kilogrammes of food waste from landfills through active participation in The Gardens Mall’s food waste composting programme. 

The composting initiative is part of a larger sustainability effort launched by The Gardens Mall in July 2023, where food and beverage (F&B) operators collaborate to reduce organic waste. MST Golf Arena’s commitment to the programme reflects MST Golf Group’s broader dedication to environmental stewardship and sustainable business practices. 

Reducing Food Waste at the Source 

Beyond composting, MST Golf Arena is also minimising waste at the source by repurposing fruit and vegetable peels, which are typically discarded, to enhance soup broths. This not only enhances flavour and nutritional value, but also aligns with the Group’s sustainability commitment by ensuring that resources are utilised efficiently. Rich in fibre and antioxidants, these peels maximises the potential of every ingredient. 

Recycling Used Cooking Oil for A Greener Future 

MST Golf Arena has also taken steps to address the environmental impact of used cooking oil by establishing a recycling programme across its outlets. The initiative is not limited to our flagship location at The Gardens Mall but is also practised at our MST Golf Arena outlets at IOI Damansara Mall and Gurney Paragon Mall in Penang. 

As of February 2025, the company has collected a combined total of 5,767.31 kilogrammes of used cooking oil since 2023. This initiative helps prevent improper disposal of used oil, which can harm the environment and water systems, while also promoting responsible waste management in commercial kitchens.
