Sustainability and Inclusivity to the Fore in adidas Golf Day at Glenmarie

Sustainability and Inclusivity were the highlights during the adidas Golf Day at Glenmarie Golf & Country Club on September 13.

More than 100 golfers comprising members of MST Golf’s ilovegolf loyalty programme and invited guests teed off at Glenmarie’s scenic and challenging Valley Course. The fun-oriented event showcased adidas’ sustainability and inclusivity efforts through innovative on-course activations, and even the goodies given out reflected adidas’ commitment to sustainability via the brand’s ‘End Plastic Waste’ campaign.

Each player received an adicross Three Below polo shirt and adidas Golf Performance cap, both made mainly with recycled material, and an adidas water bottle – all packed nicely in an adidas Woven Bag.

In addition to the novelty contests, golfers were pleasantly surprised by three special adidas holes – the Inclusivity Hole at the par-three 15th, Sustainability Hole at the par-four 16th, and ‘Hug The CodeChaos’ at the par-five 2nd.

The Inclusivity Hole rewarded every golfer who found the green with their tee shots with a prize. To ensure that the contest was as inclusive as possible, the forward tees were used and many of the participants managed to hit the putting surface to walk off with their choice of an adidas lunchbox, adidas metal straws, adidas metal shoe horn or adidas reusable face mask.

The Sustainability Hole was a hive of activity as golfers were invited to pose free-style with the End Plastic Waste props next to the teebox. Each and every golfer was given a cool adidas Recycle Key Chain for their creative efforts!

At the ‘Hug The CodeChaos’ hole, golfers who landed within a circle surrounding a huge replica of the new CodeChaos shoe were rewarded with an adidas Play Green Bag Tag.

Joining in the fun and festivities were adidas Golf’s Commercial Director for Southeast Asia and Pacific, Tan Ying Sze, adidas Golf Malaysia’s Senior Manager for Commercial and Exports, Eileen Fong, adidas Golf’s Head of Marketing for Southeast Asia, Ken Sim, MST Golf Managing Director KP Low and MST Golf Director Datuk James Pang, along with numerous adidas Golf ambassadors.

Muhamad Haniff Abu Bakar emerged as the winner with a System 36 Nett Stableford score of 40 points. He took home an adidas Golf cart bag, CodeChaos RC BOA shoes, and an adidas ‘Dress Like A Pro’ product voucher worth RM2,500.

“The adidas Golf Day was a really fun and friendly event and I had a great time! I’ve been an ilovegolf member for six or seven years and play regularly in the events,” said Haniff, who hails from Segamat in Johor.

“The special adidas holes added to the fun and gave everyone a chance to win some cool adidas merchandise,” added the 34-year-old.

Jung Youngguk and Saharan Kasim also scored 40 points and were placed second and third respectively following a countback. They both won adidas Golf cart bags, CodeChaos lace shoes and adidas product vouchers.

The novelty holes saw Syaifulmizan Zainudin topping the Nearest To Line contest at Hole 6 with a drive that settled 60cm from the line, while Tan Wee Siong was just 7.62m from the flag at Hole 12 to win the Nearest To Pin contest. Both players won adidas duffle bags.

Lady Luck however was not smiling on the participants as no one managed to score an ace at the par-threes and claim the Hole-In-One prize of adidas Golf products worth RM10,000.

Lady Luck did smile on eight participants whose scorecards were pulled in the Lucky Draw, winning them handsome prizes including adidas products, Heathland vouchers and Garmin Approach golf watches.
